Funky Fireworks Labels!

I recently ran across some fireworks labels from the past. Some are well done, some look like a family member was called on for the art...
The "Monster" was a swipe from the Moon Monster ad from comic books of the 1960s.
Batman... Not so great, but Voodoo is a winner I think.

Superstar's Bat Shirt!

Here is a photo Superstar Billy Graham from about 1972 (Going by his Hair line)  sporting an interesting Bat-Woman / Batgirl T-shirt.

1966 Batman Sweepstakes

Proctor & Gamble, one of the sponsors of the ABC-TV Batman show had a very cool contest, as seen here in this ad. Stores that sold P&G products gave away the "Bat-Scene" tickets, and on 10-20-1966, Batman (Adam West, natch!) would reveal the winning Bat-Scene. The above ad appeared in major magazines, such as Life, Look, and all the biggies of 1966..
Promoted also on coupon flyers via Sunday newspapers, and  Proctor & Gamble package inserts...
Recently an unused Bat-scene ticket turned up on eBay. I don't know... I'm afraid I would be tempted to open it.
As far as I know, nobody knows which Bat-scenes were winners.. It would be cool to find the footage of  Adam West revealing the winning scenes..

After School TV

Remember all the cool TV shows they showed on weekday afternoons?  Sure, they were reruns of older shows, but we didn't give a hoot! Oh well, file them away with Saturday morning cartoons, I guess. I'd love to see the KING-TV line up on these latter day afternoons.

Batmemos!

Even Hallmark cashed in on the 1966 Batman craze with a notepad - Batmemos. Just a standard notepad with pithy bat-panels at the bottom. Pretty scarce item though...

Batman - Beware!

Screen Stories June 1966, with the puzzling cover blurb, "The Stars' Warning To Batman "Beware Of Women!" Nuttiness overload..

I'm a Joker...

Great still of Cesar Romero as The Joker from the 1966 Batman movie...

Batgirl: ABC-TV

Here's a great promotional photo of Yvonne Craig as Batgirl. Maybe part of a press kit, or the 1966 TV Guide Fall Preview issue. Vintage photo of a great Gal..

Batman Give-A-Show

What an incredibly cool toy! The Batman Give-A-Show Bat-Projector! This was from The U.K., by Chad Valley licensed by Kenner. Why Kenner didn't release this in the states I'll never know. I'm a sucker for the Kenner projectors anyway, but with Batman in the mix, I would've died to get this as a kid! When they started putting photos of the toys on the box instead of artwork like this, toys were less desirable I believe. It's from 1966, natch. "As seen on ABC Television"

Batman And Monsters Again!

Here is Monster World #10. I never saw it in 1966, as I don't know if I had gotten my first comic book yet, but when I got a little older, I ordered it from Captain Company, (via Famous Monsters) along with Monster World #2, with The Munsters on the cover. What heady days

Batman And Monsters!

Castle Of Frankenstein #9. The Batman craze of 1966 - 1967 was big, and even Monster magazines got in on the bat-fad! Cesar Romero as The Joker adorns the cover of this one.
Even Warren magazines had some Batman stuff, notably Monster World #10, so I will dig that one up later...

Batman: 1940s Serials

Batman was the 1st appearance of The caped Crusader on film. It starred Lewis Wilson as Batman, and Douglas Croft as Robin. 15 chapters from Columbia Pictures (1943).
Batman And Robin was the 1949 sequel to Batman. This time out Batman was played by Robert Lowery, and Robin was Johnny Duncan. It was the usual 15 chapters. I thought the Batman costume in this one was especially bad-looking. I guess they lost the originals and the designs as well. Despite that, I enjoyed the serial. Sadly I don't own the first...

Batman & Robin LP

I always wanted this album. I used to see the ad for it in the back of Famous Monsters Of Filmland, but alas, I never pulled the trigger. Maybe someday.

Batman - 1966

A great piece of art inspired by the animated opening of the 1966 ABC-TV series, by the great Patrick Owsley!
