Classic wrestling ads via Seth Hanson, an amazing collector of these cool windows into the past... Find him on Facebook, or Twitter The upper one is from the early 1970s, about 1972 in Greenville, S.C. ,and the bottom is earlier, say 1967, and I believe it to be from Asheville, N.C.

Here's and ad for Forbidden Planet,  comics and more stores from The U.K. I saw this ad back in the late 1970s, of course I didn't know who Brian Bolland was then, but I was impressed. Cool and Creepy!

1966 Batman Sweepstakes

 Proctor & Gamble, one of the sponsors of the ABC-TV Batman show had a very cool contest, as seen here in this ad. Stores that sold P&G products gave away the "Bat-Scene" tickets, and on 10-20-1966, Batman (Adam West, natch!) would reveal the winning Bat-Scene. The above ad appeared in major magazines, such as Life, Look, and all the biggies of 1966..

 Promoted also on coupon flyers via Sunday newspapers, and  Proctor & Gamble package inserts...

Recently an unused Bat-scene ticket turned up on eBay. I don't know... I'm afraid I would be tempted to open it.
As far as I know, nobody knows which Bat-scenes were winners.. It would be cool to find the footage of  Adam West revealing the winning scenes..

Jack Davis Dracula ad art..

Jack Davis draws the good Count munching on a Slim Jims, before Macho Man Randy Savage "Snapped Into It!"... This ad was in Zillions of comic books.

Brought To You By...

A super-sharp screencap of The Flintstones Carnation Milk spot at the beginning of the show. The Flintstones were a prime time show for ABC, so not all the sponsors / commercials were kid oriented. Shows of the day usually had multiple sponsors.

Shrunken heads were very popular in the 1950s - 1960s. You could fork over $2.98 for this baby, or you could go DIY, like Ed Gein up in Wisconsin. Inspired by the American Indians who used all of their kills, Eddie made much more use of the acquisitions / kills than shrunken heads in that creepy house... [via Boys and Ghouls Podcast]

The Convict!

Here's a promo / ad for a wrestler called "The Convict", who had successful runs in different territories in the late 1960s - early 1970s, including Los Angeles, and Japan. The convict turned out to be Stan "Plowboy" Frasier, who wrestled as Uncle Elmer, one of the Hillbillies in the mid 1980s WWF.  Just another example of what Vince McMahon Jr. thinks Southerners are like.
