Castex 5 - Munsters

Here's a neat Munsters item that is rare as you might guess - The Munsters Castex 5 Casting set from 1964. You could make a pretty good living selling the statues on eBay! Not the most desirable graphics on the box, but mighty cool nonetheless.

Munsters TV Times Cover

Here's a photo of Fred Gwynne, and Yvonne DeCarlo that I've never seen before, on this August 1964 copy of The L.A. Times TV insert. Both have unusual looks on their faces.. The caption "Spooks Alive! The New Trend" Seems to be about all the offbeat/ monster sitcoms that were hot in the 1964 /1965 season. Such as The Addams Family, Bewitched, My Mother, The Car, My Favorite Martian, etc., AND The Munsters, of course.

The Two (3) Marilyns.

As you know, I am a fan of The Munsters, the CBS-TV show of the 1960s. The first Marilyn, Beverly Owens, left the series in the middle of season 1, because she was very unhappy, and wanted to marry her then boyfriend. So after 13 shows, she was let out of her contract.  She was replaced by Pat Priest in December 1964. When they were casting the movie (Munster Go Home), it was announced that Pat wasn't going to be in the film, she was pretty upset. It seems they wanted a younger Marilyn, so they went with actress Debbie Watson. I don't know... I still think Beverly Owens was the best.

Zombo!

One of my  absolute favorite episodes of The Munsters is the "Zombo" episode. Louis Nye plays a horror host of sorts for after school TV. Eddie wins an on-air contest, and gets to meet his idol!  Cool doin's. The top image is a great fan-made ad for The Zombo show. I wish I knew who did it, they really made it authentic.

Here's a neat shot of Al Lewis sporting the make-up that was used in the (1964) pilot episode. The scaled it back after a while to a more "human" look, but I like this version. I'll bet Al didn't...

Munsters Syringe!

Here's a rare one from 1964. Hasbro's The Munsters Hypo-Squirt. A Munsters themed water gun in the shape of a rig! This sold on eBay for just under $2,500! Cool & weird toy, but Wow!

Classic ad from Captain Company via Famous Monsters Of Filmland (1964 - 65). The Munsters masks were tempting back then I am sure!

Munster Fun.

Here's a neat item I can't remember seeing before, The Munsters Sticker Fun coloring book. It has a neat cover, and what gets my attention is that the Marilyn actually looks like Pat Priest! The art on other Munster items don't often have a likeness of any of the Marilyns. This leads me to believe that this is from 1965. They're trying to catch that smart-ass raven in the cuckoo clock!

The two Munsters LPs. The top cover is a rock band called The Munsters, with a tie-in with the TV show - 1964.
The lower cover is a comedy record that contains the words to the Munsters theme song ("The Munsters are following you")! 1965

The Official Munsters Magazine

One of my most valued items is this 1964 magazine. I saw one as a kid, and it took forever to find one! Win a phone call from Herman!

Mattel Herman Munster Puppet

A Herman Munster puppet that looks to be in great shape. I had one of these as a lad, and I wish I could've kept it in good shape like this one, but that's not very realistic for a 3 to 4 year old boy..
